STOUPA VILLAGE
|
|
The small resort of Stoupa lies in the Mani, the
middle peninsula of southern Peloponnese.
It is approximately 38km southeast
of Kalamata, the capital of of Messinia. It has a steady population of
around 400 people, though its relaxed care- free atmosphere attracts a
number of visitors, mainly during the summer period.
Local’s main
lifework is connected with tourism and olive picking. There are quite a
few foreign families who live and work in Stoupa all year round.
There are 3 beaches in the village: the longest
Stoupa beach, around which the resort is based, Kalogria beach and the
small, quite rocky, Halikoura beach.
You will find most of the shops, tavernas,
supermarket etc along the main road that runs the length of Stoupa beach.

What to do there?
If you love parties, fast ‘n’ furious nightlife then do not come
to Stoupa: There is only one disco in the area! Stoupa is a reasonably
quiet place, ideal for swimming, fishing, snorkeling, walking, exploring,
sunbathing or just undisturbed peace and relaxation.– A good balance
between sun worshiping and sightseeing as the spot is considered to be
an excursion starting point to all the Peloponnese sites such as Mistras,
Olympia, Diros Caves and Mani Area, Monemvasia, Mycynae and Nafplion,
Kalavrita, as well as Athens.
Gastronomers will taste the traditional Greek cuisine
and try the local wine in the various tavernas around the village.
