Villa Pelagia

Out and about

Just outside the Stoupa area, along the coastline and on the hilltops, there are a number of escarpments: small villages, each one with different style, well worth a visit.

We introduce two of them, letting you explore the rest of the local region by car or, for the more energetic, on foot!

Agios Nikolaos
fishing village with passable rocky beaches.
Early birds will have the hap chance to see the small fish market – the only in the hole area – and buy the most fresh fish, or in turn, taste them in the traditional  tavernas by the harbour which is the heart of the village.

Distances* by car/bus: 3-4 mins.   On foot: 35 mins

Kardamily
The most historic village of all is unquestionably Kardamily.
It was one of the cities given to Achilles from Agamemnon as a Wedding present and it is the place where later on, the army chiefs met to organize the plans for the start of the war of independence in 1821. You can actually visit old tower houses situated on a hilltop just above the new village.

Distances by car/bus: 8 mins - On foot: 2 ½ hrs
